Permakultur Danmark (PKDK) promotes permaculture as a holistic approach to sustainable food systems — encompassing ecological design, social community building, and practical education. We connect practitioners, growers, and communities across Denmark through networks, courses, and collaborative projects.
As a member of the Nordic Seed Alliance, we contribute a focus on seed sovereignty, biodiversity, and climate-adapted crops. We believe locally adapted seeds belong in the commons — shared, exchanged freely, and stewarded collectively across generations. Through design education and community practice, PKDK works to embed seed commons thinking into the wider permaculture movement.

Norsk Permakultureforening (Norway)
Norsk Permakulturforening is a non-profit organization that works to spread knowledge and information about permaculture in Norway, and to inspire people to regenerate life on earth and build resilient societies through the practice of permaculture. Established in 1988, the association aims to act as an umbrella organization for all things permaculture in Norway, and to aid in spreading awareness and information about permaculture to our members as well as the general public. We regularly arrange online courses and/or events, and currently have ten local chapters all across Norway that all put on courses and activities in their area, related to permaculture and green living.

Biodynamisk Forening (Norway)
Biodynamisk Forening is the Norwegian biodynamic association, working with biodynamic agriculture, education and public engagement. The association is involved in formal and non-formal learning related to soil, cultivation and seed use and collaborates with biodynamic farms and initiatives across Norway. Through its nordic youth education programme BINGN, the organisation supports education and capacity building for young adults entering biodynamic and ecological agriculture, including the introduction of seed-related modules. Biodynamisk Forening contributes perspectives from biodynamic practice, education and generational learning and needs the project to map how seed-related learning, production and stewardship are organised across Nordic contexts and how these connect to broader educational and policy frameworks.

Föreningen SESAM (Sweden)
Föreningen SESAM is the Swedish seed savers’ organisation and a national network dedicated to seed saving, seed preservation and the maintenance of cultivated plant diversity.
Föreningen Sesam is structured as craftsmanship guilds with a specific guild for each species which is led by a master (ålderman) and journeymen/apprentices (gesäll/lärling) working as seed-stewards. The idea behind this structure is that seed-saving is a craft and people has to learn it not only theoretically but also by putting hands on seeds and growing seeds.
The organisation operates its own seed bank and offers seed-saving courses on different levels over the whole country, not only for members, but even open to everyone. Furthermore, Föreningen SESAM provides information for members and for the public at events like garden fairs, open gardens days, markets, workshops or on internet/social media.

FLUF (Frie Bønder – Levende Lands Ungdomsfront) (Denmark)
FLUF is a farmers’ organisation and the Danish branch of Via Campesina, working with sustainable and small-scale agriculture, food systems and farmers’ conditions. The organisation engages adult farmers through practice-based learning, peer exchange and public dialogue, and contributes perspectives from on-farm learning, seed use and the everyday capacity needs of small and medium-sized farms.
Through its youth initiative FLUFF, Frie Bønder – Levende Land connects young farmers and new entrants from ecological, regenerative and permaculture-based farming with experienced practitioners and learning communities. This creates important informal and non-formal learning spaces where practical skills, values and leadership are developed across generations. The organisation also operates at the interface between practice and policy, bringing farmers’ experiences into public debate and advocacy related to agriculture, seeds and food systems.

Frøsamlerne (Denmark)
Frøsamlerne (Danish Seed Savers – DSS) is a Danish non-profit organisation, established in 1987, dedicated to seed saving, conservation, education, and agrobiodiversity. The NGO works with practical horticulture and has experience in connecting seed saving with cultivation, selection and local adaptation.
Furthermore, DSS has almost 40 years of experience in engaging adult learners through workshops, courses, documentation and hands-on seed activities, operating mainly in non-formal and informal learning contexts. The dissemination includes knowledge of heritage plants as an important part of our food culture.

FOBO – Förbundet Organisk-Biologisk Odling (Sweden)
FOBO is a Swedish civil society organisation promoting organic and biological cultivation, including seed saving and sustainable food processing. It has since the seventies spread knowledge about small-scale, organic cultivation of vegetables, fruit, nuts and berries and how to become self-sufficient from your own garden. It engages adult learners through courses, publications and member-based knowledge sharing and publishes a magazine four times a year. FOBO also has an active home-page and participates in garden fairs and events to promote organic gardening.
FOBO advocates natural and cyclic cultivation methods such as mulching, gentle tillage, companion planting and green manure. FOBOs farming methods aim to build a living soil with a varied micro-life that can produce healthy food.

KVANN – Norwegian Seed Savers
KVANN is a national network dedicated to seed saving, cultivated plant diversity and agrobiodiversity. Its activities include non-formal and informal adult education through courses, workshops, documentation, public events and collaboration with growers, educators and civil society organisations. KVANN engages adult learners ranging from hobby growers and seed savers to professional practitioners and educators.
KVANN contributes with strong practical and educational expertise in seed stewardship and national coordination. As part of the Agroecology Partnership, KVANN also brings insight into the interface between practice-based knowledge, research and European policy frameworks.

Sogn Jord- og Hagebruksskule (Norway)
Sogn Jord- og Hagebruksskule is a Norwegian upper secondary school specialising in ecological and regenerative agriculture, with a strong emphasis on hands-on, field-based learning. While formally part of the secondary education system, the school engages a significant number of adult learners and functions as an important learning environment for adults seeking practical competencies related to sustainable food production, land use and rural livelihoods.
The school is widely recognised in the Nordic region for its practice-based approach to regenerative agriculture and attracts students and participants from across the Nordic countries. It contributes experience from structured education, curriculum development and long-term integration of ecological principles into agricultural training. The school is currently developing new educational activities related to seeds, cultivation and food systems, with growing relevance for adult learners and practitioners.
Within the project, Sogn Jord- og Hagebruksskule contributes perspectives from formal education and vocational training and supports the mapping of how seed-related learning is organised within structured educational settings. The project supports the school’s need to situate its seed-related education within a wider Nordic learning landscape and to strengthen connections between formal education, non-formal adult learning and community-based practice.

Praktisk Økologi Danmark
Praktisk Økologi is a Danish association with a long tradition of working with organic gardening, seed use and ecological cultivation. The organisation engages adult gardeners, small-scale growers and practitioners through magazines, courses, local groups and knowledge sharing. Praktisk Økologi plays an important role in disseminating practical, experience-based knowledge and connecting everyday cultivation practices with broader ecological understanding. The organisation contributes strong communication capacity and insight into informal learning environments, where seeds and plant material are closely linked to practice, culture and place. The project supports Praktisk Økologi in situating this work within a Nordic mapping of living seed systems and in clarifying how informal learning connects to seed networks, education and farming practice.

NOAH is Denmark’s oldest environmental organization, founded in 1969. The organization began as a grassroots movement protesting environmental pollution and today works to promote “environmental justice,” in which everyone has equal access to the Earth’s resources without overburdening the environment. NOAH is the Danish branch of the international network Friends of the Earth. We have a critical approach to the current economic system. The work is organized into specific policy programs covering topics such as climate, agriculture, chemicals, and resource use – and we publish scientific reports, books, and informational materials to increase public awareness of environmental issues. We provide alternatives to the industrial farming systems, which includes non-gmo food production and work to ensure food sovereignty and truly sustanable food systems.
