A Nordic youth community and network rooted in ecology and seed sovereignty. For young people across the Nordic region who want to take part in protecting our seed heritage and seed sovereignty — in both political work and practical field-based action.
What is NSAY?
We have created a youth chapter within our mother organization Nordic Seed Alliance — the Nordic alliance for seed sovereignty, agrobiodiversity, and farmer-led innovation. We call ourselves Nordic Seed Alliance Youth (NSAY), and we need you!
We have two main objectives:
- We work politically for seed sovereignty and practically to rebuild the connection to a craft and cultural heritage that once played a crucial role in agriculture; seed saving and seed breeding.
- We bring together all the organizations and youth working with seeds all over the Nordic region and bridge the connection to Nordic Seed Alliance.
Why is seed sovereignty important?
For most of agricultural history, farmers, gardeners, and local communities developed, selected, and passed on seeds adapted to local climates, soils, and food cultures. This practice created an enormous diversity of crops and collective knowledge about cultivation, taste, resilience, and adaptability — knowledge and diversity that many of us are no longer exposed to today.
Therefore, NSAY works to strengthen community, knowledge-sharing, and practical skills in seed saving and seed breeding, while also giving young people across the Nordic region a voice in the debate about the future of food and agriculture.
How do we work?
We have formed committees to arrange our events, national committees for all the Nordic countries, a coordination circle, and more. Feel free to join the committees you are interested in in our WhatsApp group!

- Youth at the next Nordic Seed Alliance conference: Winter 2026
- Seed Caravan: August 2027
We also do:
- Workshops, farm visits, talks, and youth gatherings
- Learning natural seed saving and seed breeding from some of the most experienced growers in the Nordic region
- Political organising and campaigns together with NSA
